Honda Gives Its Stamp of Approval! “Tsunoda Has What It Takes to Move Up to Red Bull”
Yuki Tsunoda recently drove Red Bull’s car during the post-season test in Abu Dhabi, earning high expectations from Honda. The company is hopeful that Tsunoda will secure a Red Bull seat for the 2025 season, potentially replacing Sergio Perez.
Abu Dhabi Test Supported by Honda
Koji Watanabe, President of Honda Racing Corporation (HRC), shared his thoughts on Tsunoda’s participation in the test:
“We are delighted that HRC could support Tsunoda’s participation in the test. I’ve heard he was very satisfied with the experience.”
“We’ve had various discussions with Christian Horner regarding drivers for future seasons. However, the final decision rests with the team, so our input is only advisory.”
Despite this, Watanabe sees Tsunoda as a strong candidate for a Red Bull promotion.
“I am confident Tsunoda has the ability to compete at a top team. This test was a great opportunity to demonstrate that talent to the world. Tsunoda himself showed a strong determination to perform well while enjoying the experience.”
Results from the Abu Dhabi Test
During the test, Tsunoda provided valuable feedback, analyzing the differences between Red Bull’s car and those of other teams in detail. Watanabe commended his contributions:
“He shared his insights with the team and made a significant impact. No matter where he drives next season, we expect him to continue delivering strong performances.”
Takuma Sato’s Encouragement: “Now We Just Pray”
Former F1 driver and current HRC Executive Advisor Takuma Sato also expressed optimism about Tsunoda’s prospects:
“Of course, the final decision lies with the team,” said Sato. “However, Tsunoda felt that his driving style suited Red Bull’s car during the test. I truly hope he secures a Red Bull seat in 2025.”
Tsunoda’s Future with Red Bull?
Tsunoda himself exuded confidence after the test:
