Dutch Grand Prix to Conclude Iconic Run in 2026 with One-Year Extension Confirmed
December 4, 2024 – Formula 1 has announced a one-year contract extension for the Dutch Grand Prix, ensuring its presence on the calendar through the 2026 season. However, the race at Circuit Zandvoort will not continue beyond that, marking the end of an extraordinary chapter for the sport in the Netherlands.
Since its return in 2021, the Dutch Grand Prix has captivated fans worldwide with its unique atmosphere and thrilling races. The event also coincided with the dominance of homegrown hero Max Verstappen, who has triumphed in all three races held at Zandvoort and clinched multiple World Championships during this era.
In addition to its electric fan experience and competitive racing, the Dutch Grand Prix has been celebrated for its pioneering sustainability efforts. These initiatives have influenced Formula 1’s journey toward achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2030.
Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, expressed his gratitude:
“The Dutch Grand Prix has raised the bar for event spectacle and entertainment, supporting young talent and inspiring sustainable practices. While we respect the promoter’s decision to conclude this journey in 2026, the legacy of this event will resonate far beyond its final race.”
Robert van Overdijk, Director of the Dutch Grand Prix, echoed the sentiment:
“The success of the Dutch Grand Prix is a testament to the passion of our fans and the collaboration of SportVibes, TIG Sports, and Circuit Zandvoort. While it is bittersweet to announce its conclusion, we are determined to go out on a high note with two incredible final races in 2025 and 2026.”
The 2025 Dutch Grand Prix will take place from August 29 to 31, while the 2026 finale will include a Sprint race for the first time in the event’s history, with dates to be confirmed. Ticket sales for 2025 are already underway, with details for the highly anticipated 2026 event to follow.
A Farewell Worth Remembering
As the countdown to the final Dutch Grand Prix begins, fans can look forward to one last chance to witness the magic of Zandvoort, a circuit steeped in history and now firmly etched into Formula 1 folklore.
