Guthrie reflects on his relationship with Ocon
Pierre Gasly praised the good relationship he has with Esteban Ocon at Alpine and clarified that Ocon will not participate in the final race.
After the Qatar Grand Prix, it was announced that Esteban Ocon will not participate in the final race of the 2024 season in Abu Dhabi. Alpine officially announced Monday morning that Jacques Doohan will fill in for Ocon.
Ocon’s absence from Abu Dhabi appears to be closely linked to his participation in the post-season test at Haas.
While Alpine has yet to make an official announcement, Pierre Gasly spoke about his relationship with his teammate.
We have worked very well with Esteban [Ocon] over the past two years,” said Gasly after the Qatar Grand Prix.
His approach was very professional. We had the same ambitions and understood that we needed to push the team in the same direction. For the most part, I think we have reacted in a similar way. This year was probably not the easiest year for us compared to the beginning of the team.”
Still, I think the evolution that has taken place throughout the year is clearly due to the team as a whole and the way we have pushed forward together,” said Gasly.
Alpine has opted to use a newcomer instead in the final round. Alpine is currently competing with Haas for 6th place in the constructors’ standings, and a point in the final race could be crucial.
At the moment, Alpine is 6th in the Constructors’ standings, 5 points ahead of Haas.
