Michael Schumacher’s former bodyguard charged with attempted extortion
Michael Schumacher’s former bodyguard, Markus Fritsche, is accused of holding the legendary F1 racer’s family to ransom.
According to the Daily Mail, Markus Fritsche allegedly threatened to release confidential photos and medical information on Michael Schumacher, who has been living in isolation since a serious ski accident in 2013.
Fritsche, who worked with Schumacher for eight years, said he betrayed the trust of his family after he was fired. He claimed to have kept 1,500 images, 200 videos, and medical data on two different USBs.
Along with two accomplices, they allegedly contacted the former F1 driver’s family and offered to keep the information confidential if they paid the requested amount (£12 million).
The charges against Fritsche and two accomplices are expected to be heard in a trial scheduled for next month in Germany.
